We did brunch right when we opened, and then changed our minds. Oer the last four-plus years I probably get several requests a month for us to do brunch again. To which my response is that we’ll do it when pigs fly and Hell freezes over.
Well, on Sunday, November 1, Porky gets his wings and the Devil dons his ice skates: for one day only we are going to do a Sunday brunch, starting at 9am and going until 3pm, when we start getting ready for dinner.
We know not a lot of people go out to restaurants on Halloween nite, and we wanted to give everyone here a chance to work that weekend, and we figured you’d be hungover from Halloween and wanting brunch, so it worked out just this once. But let’s just say I lost a bet.
Among the dishes we’ve been chatting about: Link Benedict; biscuits and gravy; local fish lox; breakfast burritos; Hangtown Fry. The boys are already planning on baking both our own bagels and our own English muffins.
Oh, and we’ll surely have happy hour specials for anyone still in costume from the night before.
OK, mark your calendars. Remember, it’ll be at least five years before we do this again. Actually it’ll be never. Although it seems I’ve said that before. But this time I mean it.
Can we chalk this one up to the one brightside (for us) of $C winning?
Thank goodness. Great restaurants serve brunch. Will there be bloody mary’s or micheladas?
Bloody mary’s, too, please!
What about French Toast? Can’t wait!
We’ll definitely have micheladas, we’ll see if we can make bloodys with soju or something else we’re licensed to serve, that don’t suck. We used to do them pretty well.
Doug, the bad football in the East Bay on Saturday is fortunately not the culprit here, or else we’d be liable to have to do it 6 more times this year.
Oh and French Toast is still TBD.
My favorite bloody mary uses jalapeno infused vodka (from Great Jones Cafe in NYC). They make their own. I suspect it’s easy to do with soju too, if one started it a couple of weeks out.
Though the michelada is really what I’m excited about.
can we have blood sausage?
I love my blood mary with some blood sausage. Perfect combo!
