Nicolette Hahn Niman’s book is out today. When we were visiting the Nimans in January the galleys had just come in and we noted that the book looks really cool, and has a lot of potential to bring the ideas of sustainable farming to a broader audience.
If you’re not familiar with the Nimans…as far as sustainable, non-industrial farming goes, they are the real deal. They basically split from the company that Bill founded (Niman Ranch) so that they could, as he told us, “go all the way” with progressive farming. Their goats are amazing, and we are looking forward to trying (and serving) their heritage turkeys and, of course, their pastured beef.
There aren’t an infinite number of serious progressive farmers in the country, and they all come at it with their own perspective. I’m looking forward to reading Nicolette’s.
