When I was in Mexico City a couple weeks ago, I again savored a fantastic pulpo dish at Contramar. It reminded me that way back when we opened in 2005 we were going to have grilled octopus on the menu, but we never got it right, and life moved on, so we’ve never served it.
Upon returning, I asked Max if we could do an octopus dish, and he said if we could find a source that met our standards, he’d do a great dish with it.

So, starting tonite we’ll have wild octopus caught off the coast of Ensenada (actually, off the coast of Erendira). It’ll be a starter, but that’s all the preparation Max will tell me so far. It’ll be on the daily menu blog at 5pm or so.
