That Special Sunday

Posted by Jay on Thursday, 8 January 2009

We got together today and all agreed that this Sunday’s Charger playoff game is a singular civic event of community importance. (Well, actually, let’s hope it’s one of several this month.) While we are by no means a sports bar prone to game-day promotions, we kind of couldn’t resist.

So we’re going to celebrate the game and our love for San Diego with this town’s great native session beer, Alesmith X. We’ll offer full pints of X for the price of a medium one (four bucks). And although most of the kitchen closes at 3ish, all afternoon we’ll keep serving a few plates including the locally-sourced Lowcountry boil, which is specially tailored to go great with both beer and football — it originally hails from SEC country, after all.

Oh, and we’ll also show the game on the TVs at the bar. Thanks to the Chargers for giving us in San Diego such a great opportunity to get together and have a good time.

[…] * On Sunday, much of San Diego will stand still as the Chargers continue their run into the playoffs. If you’d like to stand still at our place, either watching the game or not, we are here for you. The game will be on in the bar, of course. In celebration of the occasion, we’re going to run a modest special on one of our favorite San Diego beers, Alesmith X. I think the best part of that is not the special price but that we actually have 2 kegs of Alesmith X in house at the same time, and are thus less likely to run out! We’ll also feature our locally-sourced Lowcountry Boil during the whole afternoon. It may be the perfect football food, though really it’s good on any afternoon. Or evening. http://thelinkery.com/blog/that-special-sunday/ […]
