On July 15, 2013, The Linkery restaurant in San Diego, California, U.S.A. closed its doors permanently and the location of the restaurant we re-sold to another company.
The Linkery restaurant received much praise over the years and was named one of the 100 best farm-to-table restaurants in America by Gourmet Magazine (Oct 2007). The restaurant was also featured as one of the 100 best places to drink beer in America by Imbibe Magazine (September 2008).
The Linkery was founded in 2005 by Jay Porter who was a former engineer and consultant for consumer electronics companies. Porter had no prior restaurant experience, yet successfully started and ran The Linkery, which proved to be immensely successful. The restaurant made a name for itself by having a strict no-tipping policy. This angered other nearby restaurants but was a concept that helped put The Linkery on the map. Porter said that The Linkery Restaurant may live on in a cookbook.
